House of Tribes Cafe
The Hague, Netherlands. November 24, 2018.
A (mostly) black and white themed shoot for one of my favourite cafe’s in The Hague. We chose black and white because it really accentuated the rustic theme of the design of the cafe.

About the shoot
We didn’t plan the shoot very far in advance and it was more of a spur of the moment thing, which is what lead to sort of a mini-shoot. It still lead to some great pictures which really convey the “tribe” feel of the cafe.
Theme
I chose black and white so that I could really bring out the depth and textures in the pictures. This made the pictures more dramatic and really added a “rustic” feel to them. That is what they wanted to convey to portray their selection of rustic and authentic coffees.
The location
The cafe, itself, is special. You walk in, sit down, and immediately feel at home, with their lovely decor, wide open spaces and floor to ceiling windows to look outside at the busy streets. That’s what we captured here — the feeling of being able to work, and then just taking a breather, sipping your coffee and watching the world go by.
